My journey in the health and fitness world started in 2004 when I became a Personal Trainer, Older Adult Specialist and Nutrition and Wellness Specialist. Over the years, working with many clients and having my own personal experiences with injuries, I moved towards the kinder mind/body exercises of yoga and Pilates. Unknowingly, my yoga journey started more than 30 years ago with a meditation practice. It would not be until years later that I would come to the physical asana practice. This is when it truly all came together for me – the healing benefits of connecting the mind, body and breath whether in movement or seated in meditation. This is when I knew that I wanted to learn more so that I could share this wonderful practice with others.
After a full career working in the Federal Government, I retired from an office job and moved to a beautiful home on Devil Lake so nicely situated on the water surrounded by nature – the perfect setting for sun salutations and full moon meditations, both reminders of our interconnectedness with nature. It’s hard not to feel the healing effects of being in this beautiful setting. Everyday, I am so grateful for this space and for the practice of yoga and meditation.
My wish is to create a safe space for students to explore and embrace silence and stillness and notice what’s truly going on in the inner landscapes of their being – connecting mind, body and breath… ultimately receiving the many health benefits of the practices of yoga, Pilates and meditation. I am passionate about sharing the knowledge of these mind, body practices which each are opportunities to step away from the busy-ness of the day to reconnect with oneself so that we can then reconnect with our communities of family, friends and neighbours in healthy ways.
Taking time each day to relax and renew is essential to living a happy and healthy life. I hope that you will join me one day soon to roll out your yoga or Pilates mat for a practice or pull up a seat for meditation even if at the moment it is virtually from your home.
