Newsletter - May 30, 2022
On May 21, a powerful storm whipped through Ontario reminding us of how quickly weather can change. Trees were uprooted, buildings damaged and demolished, power lines down, and lives sadly taken. Neighbours, family and friends came together in community to help one another with the clean-up and begin the process of rebuilding. Year to year, season to season we see nature repeat the cycles of birth, life and death. The practice of yoga is rooted in the concept of impermanence of life and living in the present moment.
Buddhism views impermanence (Anicca or Anitya) as one of the essential doctrines. ‘Everything changes and nothing lasts forever.’ Everything from our emotions to our thoughts and feelings, from the cells in our bodies to the plants around us, is changing and decaying continuously. Our views change and evolve as we grow and experience life.
“Thanks to impermanence, everything is possible. Life itself is possible. If a grain of corn is not impermanent, it can never be transformed into a stalk of corn. If the stalk were not impermanent, it could never provide us with the ear of corn we eat.” - - Thich Nhat Hanh
With the change in the seasons from spring to summer and bringing with it warmer days, why not take your fitness, yoga and Pilates classes outdoors. Connect with nature, neighbours, family and friends. Join me for yoga and other classes on the side lawn of the Lakefront Studio, overlooking the lake and the woods. See details below.
The last of the “Spring Into Summer” schedule class series started this week with both in-studio and online options to attend. In-studio space is limited to three people at this time so be sure to register early to secure your spot. See below for more information. It is never too late to register for a series even if it has already started. The cost will be prorated.
Private or semi-private individual or small group class(es) can also be arranged to support you on your health and fitness journey. Semi-private classes are also a great way to connect with your family and friends this Spring or Summer to celebrate a special event like a soon-to-be bride, a birthday, retirement, special weekend, etc. Please contact me for more information and to plan your special class or event!
