Newsletter - March 27, 2022
Spring has finally arrived after a long winter of snow and freezing rain and more snow and more freezing rain. I am happy to see the return of the Canada geese, the warmer weather and the lake’s shoreline appearing. Before too long spring flowers will be embracing us with their showy blossoms!
The roads into the Lakefront Studio are now open allowing for in-person classes! If you have been following the studio’s story from the beginning, in my social media posts and newsletters, you know this has been a long time coming!! Renovations to turn the screened-in porch into a studio began two years ago just before COVID19 hit the world! The plan was to originally open up the doors on the May 2020 long weekend. That was postponed and eventually the studio would open with virtual classes in Fall 2020. Almost two years later, I am thrilled to announce that studio doors will officially open for in-person classes starting with a 4-week Beginner Yoga series on Tuesday, April 5, 9:30 a.m. In-studio space will be limited to three people at this time so be sure to register early to secure your spot. I will continue to also offer dedicated virtual practices as well as combination in-person/virtual classes.
The Lakefront Studio’s “Spring Into Summer” Class Schedule includes the return of the 4-week Hatha and Meditation series and the addition of an evening Yin Yoga series to complement the more yang styles of yoga classes and create mind/body balance. See below for more information on these and other classes.
I hope to see you on your mat either in-person or online for one or more of the class series running this spring. Private or semi-private class(es) can be arranged to support you in your health and fitness journey. Semi-private classes are also a great way to connect with your family and friends to celebrate a special event like a soon-to-be bride, a birthday, special weekend… Please contact me for more information and to plan your special class either by phone or e-mail.
"Spring Into Summer" Class Schedule
These practices will support us physically, mentally and emotionally as we continue the journey of transitioning with the seasons. All you need to do is have them complete the waiver form and send a message to email@example.com indicating which class and date they will be attending with you. It’s that easy!
I am forever grateful to you for any referrals and for choosing to continue your wellness journey with me.

NEW DAY / NEW TIME - - Beginner Yoga 4-week Series, Tuesdays, April 5-26, 9:30-10:00am **In-Studio and Online**
Start your yoga journey learning the foundations of the practice from the comfort of your own home. This is a slower paced class which introduces you to foundational yoga poses, postural alignment and breathing techniques. This class is intended to build your confidence in the practice and to make you feel more at home in your body. In this class you will become familiar with moving in postures mindfully with the breath. If you are new to yoga or wanting a gentler practice this is the perfect class.
Yoga is a Sanskrit word which means “to yoke” or “to unite.” Connecting the mind, body and breath in yoga has many physical, mental and emotional health benefits including improved strength, flexibility and balance, improved breathing, reduced stress, increased energy, and many, many more.
Feel free to either e-mail or phone should you have any questions. I look forward to guiding you on this journey!
“Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees." - - B.K.S. Iyengar
April 7 is World Health Day! This year’s theme is, “Our planet, our health.” There are many recommended actions that you can take to protect our planet and our health. After all, they are interconnected! Our health depends on clean air, clean water and clean food. Our actions have a direct impact on our environment. What actions will you take?
“When you wake up and you see that the Earth is not just the environment, the Earth is us, you touch the nature of inter-being. And at that moment you can have real communication with the Earth… We have to wake up together. And if we wake up together, then we have a chance.” - - Thich Nhat Hahn
What better time to share this century old wisdom than Spring!! Saucha is a Sanskrit word which means purity, cleanliness and clearness. It is the first of five personal disciplines/observances or Niyamas which is the "second limb" of Patanjali’s Eight Limbs of Yoga. It is the personal practice of cleanliness of our surroundings/ environments, our body and our mind.
Spring is often the time of year when you may be finding yourself already cleaning out your home and work spaces including closets, drawers, pantries, garages and desks. You may also be thinking of eating more healthy and becoming more active. This is practicing Saucha! If you haven’t yet felt inspired, here are a few simple ways to get you started both on your yoga mat and in your daily life:
On your mat:
Meditate daily. It can bring clarity to the all too busy mind.
Include pranayama/breathing practices such as Nadi Shodhana/Alternate Nostril Breathing to balance out the internal energy channels and bring clarity to the mind.
Include “twisting” postures in your yoga practice to cleanse or detoxify internal organs including the liver.
